Montana
is the fourth largest state with a total of just over 147 thousand
square miles. Montana is bordered on the north entirely by Canada, on
the east by North
Dakota and South
Dakota, on the south by Wyoming
and on the west by Idaho.
Montana has a relatively small population with just under 1 million
people.
Montana's economy is diverse. Mining, timber and transportation form
large sectors of the states economy. Montana has substantial mineral
resources such as coal, gold, copper and other products. With such a
large part of Montana covered with forests and given the large size of
the state the timber industry is relatively large.
Montana's natural resources, mountains, rivers and lakes are a
significant draw for tourism in Montana. Glacier National Park located
entirely within Montana and Yellowstone
National Park, located partly in the state draw millions of
visitors each year.
