Aspen Colorado

Aspen is a great place to visit. It is located in Northwest Colorado in Pitkin County. Tourism is the mainstay of the economy. Aspen was originally an attraction for silver miners in the late 1870's. Aspen is 200 miles southwest of Denver and 130 miles east of Grand Junction. There are 4 main ski areas in the Aspen area - Snowmass area, Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Snowmass and Buttermilk. The Ski Season runs from November to April when these places are open. In the summer, biking, hiking and camping are the main attractions. The permanent resident population of Pitkin County, where Aspen is located, is about 15,000.
