The Valley Of Fire

For lack of a better attribution, we call these images 'trees'. Whether or not they are supposed to be trees is unknown. The context, or other images around the trees do not readily any meaning one way or the other. We can see that these images are a stylized representation of what could be trees. A single stem branching into a double stem which further branch into triple stems is not something that we have actually found in this area.

It is difficult to say that these images even resemble trees. Their placement within the whole scene and the images that are near them, do not lend any help in trying to place them as one thing or another.

What we see are two complete or 'mature' objects and what might be a smaller, immature version of the same between the 'trees'. Could this have been an aborted attempt at etching a tree? Sometimes an image could just be a mistake. That is possible.

The impression is that these three images could go together. As a collection they could be stages of something growing.

Irregardless, the only thing that we are interested in is classifying these images. We may not know what to classify them as but we know that they are distinct objects representing something.

It has been suggested that they could represent crops in a field, streams, mountains and streams and the venerable, 'sticks with something on them'. We just want to classify them and keep the 'unknown' pile as small as possible.
